How to Integrate my Google calendar

How to connect and synchronize Google Calendar with Sophiie to manage bookings and appointments.

The Google Calendar App enables a two-way sync between Sophiie and Google Calendar. When connected, Sophiie-created appointments appear in your Google Calendar, and your existing Google Calendar events are visible inside Sophiie — so your full availability is always accurate across both platforms.

How to Connect

To connect your Google Calendar with Sophiie, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Calendar Tab:

    • Log in to your Sophiie account.

    • Go to the Settings section.

    • Click on the Calendar tab.

  2. Connect to Google:

    • Click the Link Calendar button and choose Connect to Google.

    • You will be redirected to the Google login page.

  3. Grant Permissions:

    • Log in with your Google account credentials.

    • Review the requested permissions and click Allow to grant access.

  4. Select a Calendar:

    • After a successful connection, a table will appear containing a list of available Calendar IDs from your Google account.

    • Each Calendar ID represents a calendar associated with your Google account.

    • Select the desired calendar by checking the corresponding radio button.

    • Click the Save button to activate synchronization with the selected calendar.

  5. Successful Connection:

    • Once the calendar is selected and saved, your Google Calendar will be fully connected to Sophiie.

    • You will see a confirmation message indicating the successful activation of synchronization.

Permissions and Scopes

When connecting your Google Calendar, Sophiie requests the following permissions:

  • Read Calendar Events: This allows Sophiie to view your existing calendar events to avoid conflicts when scheduling new appointments.

  • Write Calendar Events: This allows Sophiie to create, update, and delete events in your Google Calendar based on your Sophiie appointments.

Why Are These Permissions Needed?

These permissions ensure that Sophiie can:

  • Synchronize your appointments with your Google Calendar.

  • Automatically update or delete events in Google when changes are made in Sophiie.

  • Prevent scheduling conflicts by checking your existing calendar events.

Rest assured, Sophiie only accesses the calendar data necessary for managing your appointments and does not modify or interact with non-Sophiie events.

How It Works

Creating an Appointment

When you create an appointment in Sophiie:

  • A corresponding event is automatically created in your Google Calendar.

  • The event includes details such as the appointment title, date, time, location, and assignees.

Updating an Appointment

When you update an appointment in Sophiie:

  • The corresponding event in your Google Calendar is updated in real-time to reflect the changes.

Deleting an Appointment

When you delete an appointment in Sophiie:

  • The corresponding event in your Google Calendar is also deleted automatically.

Limitations

While the Google Calendar App is a powerful tool, there are a few limitations to be aware of:

  1. Editing Events in Google:

    • Events from your Google Calendar are reflected in Sophiie's calendar, so Sophiie can see your full availability. However, Sophiie cannot push changes back to Google Calendar through its own calendar interface — to update Google Calendar events, make changes directly in Google Calendar.

  2. Non-Sophiie Events:

    • Events created directly in Google (not through Sophiie) cannot be edited or managed in Sophiie.

    • Sophiie only manages events that originate from its platform.

  3. Two-Way Visibility:

    • Google Calendar events are visible in Sophiie's calendar, and Sophiie-created events appear in Google Calendar. However, Sophiie can only create, update, and delete events that originate from its platform — it cannot edit events you created directly in Google.

How to Disconnect

If you need to disconnect your Google Calendar from Sophiie, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Calendar Tab:

    • Log in to your Sophiie account.

    • Go to the Settings section.

    • Click on the Calendar tab.

  2. Unlink Google:

    • Click the Unlink Google button.

  3. Successful Disconnection:

    • Once disconnected, Sophiie will no longer have access to your Google Calendar, and synchronization will stop.

FAQ

What Happens If I Edit an Event Directly in Google?

Events you create or edit directly in Google Calendar will be visible in Sophiie's calendar, so your availability stays accurate. However, Sophiie cannot modify events that weren't created through her platform — she can only manage Sophiie-originated appointments.

Can I Manage Non-Sophiie Events in Sophiie?

No, Sophiie only manages events that are created within its platform. Non-Sophiie events in your Google Calendar cannot be edited or deleted in Sophiie.

What Happens if I disconnect my Google Calendar?

If you disconnect your Google Calendar:

  • Sophiie will no longer synchronize appointments with your Google Calendar.

  • Existing events in your Google Calendar will remain, but they will no longer be updated or managed by Sophiie.
