How do I edit a customer's contact details?

Open the customer in Contacts and edit their details right on the record — each field saves on its own, so there's no Update or Save button to hunt for.

Steps

  1. Go to Contacts and click the customer. Their record opens as a slide-over drawer on top of the list. (The three dots on their row in the list has an Edit details option — it opens the same drawer.)
  2. To change the name, click the pencil next to it. First and last name fields open — press Enter or click the tick to save, or Escape to throw the change away.
  3. To change the phone or email, click the field in the Details card, type the new value, and click away — it saves when you leave the field.
  4. To manage addresses, use the Addresses section. A contact can hold several addresses with one marked Default — that's the one used when a job is booked at the customer's address. A job booked at your own premises, or at a linked company's address, uses that address instead. You can add, edit and delete addresses, or promote a different one to default. As you type, the search suggests matching addresses in your organisation's country.
  5. To record a business name, link the contact to a company record — business name isn't a free-text field on the contact any more. The contact always shows the company's current name, so if you rename the company the contact updates too.

If you change a phone or email to one that matches another contact, a possible-duplicate dialog lists the matches and offers Cancel, Save anyway, or opening the existing contact. It warns you — it never blocks the save.

Common Questions

Where did the Suburb, Instagram and Facebook fields go?

They've been removed from the contact record. The editable fields are now First name, Last name, Phone, Email, Addresses, and the linked Company. The suburb is part of the address instead.

Why is there no save button?

Because each field saves individually — names on Enter or the tick, phone and email when you click away. Once you've left the field, the change is saved.

What does the duplicate warning mean?

It means the phone or email you entered matches a contact that already exists. Check the listed matches — you can open the existing contact instead, save anyway if it's genuinely a different person, or cancel.

Why does the address search only show my country?

The lookup is scoped to your organisation's country — an Australian business sees Australian addresses, and a New Zealand, UK or US business sees its own country's.
