How do I add the Sophiie Call Now button to my website?
Go to Settings → Inquiries → Web → Lead follow-up and switch on the Calls from your website card, then copy the snippet from the Install instructions card lower down the same page — don't hand-build the code from an old guide. The button lets a website visitor enter their number and have Sophiie phone them straight back.
Note the feature needs a paid plan: on a free account you can open the page, but switching Calls from your website on opens an upgrade prompt, and the install code only appears once the channel is on.
Steps
- Go to Settings → Inquiries → Web → Lead follow-up, find Calls from your website and switch it on if it isn't already.
- Open the Install instructions card.
- Pick the right script tab: Standard for most sites, Iframe for Wix. The standard script fails on Wix — the Wix instructions in the dashboard tell you to switch to the Iframe tab and copy that script instead.
- Click Copy and paste the snippet into your page where you want the button — on WordPress, a Custom HTML block works.
- Load the page and check the button appears. The current snippet shows a visible error line if something on the page blocks it, so a silent blank space usually means an old copy of the code — replace it with a fresh copy from the dashboard.
What happens when a visitor uses it
The visitor enters their number, and Sophiie phones them straight back. A few things worth knowing about that call:
- It comes from your business number, so the visitor sees your business calling — not an unknown number.
- It's the same Sophiie as your inbound calls — same agent, same scenarios, same transfer rules. There's no separate setup for the button, and it can't be pinned to a single scenario.
- She speaks your inbound welcome greeting. Worth a check of the wording: a greeting like "thanks for calling" sounds slightly off on a call Sophiie made to the visitor.
- Voicemail detection still applies — if the visitor doesn't pick up and the call lands in their voicemail, Sophiie detects it the same way she does on other calls.
If the button doesn't appear
- Page builders and speed-up plugins are the usual culprits: Elementor, WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, Autoptimize and Cloudflare Rocket Loader can all interfere with scripts. The current snippet is built to survive them — it opts itself out of Rocket Loader and guards against being pasted twice — but older copies of the code weren't. If your snippet has a
_vf_loadfunction in it, it's the old version: replace it. Where your plugin has a script-exclusion list, exclude Sophiie's script from optimisation. - Content Security Policy: if your site sets a CSP, Sophiie's domains must be allowed (script-src, style-src, connect-src and frame-src, or a nonce-based alternative). This is a common reason the button doesn't appear — the full allow-list is in the developer guide at https://docs.sophiie.ai/docs/guides/how-to-install-sophiie-call. Easier still, the install screen has a Send setup instructions to your web developer button that emails everything straight to them.
For developers
- Two render modes: embedded and dialog. Any other value — including
"modal"— is rejected and the widget won't start, so check the spelling carefully. - Button variants: primary, secondary and success. An invalid value falls back to primary.
buttonClassNameis deprecated — usedialogButtonClassNameandformButtonClassName. Also available:dialogButtonStyle, formButtonStyle, withoutFooter, dialogTitle(default: "Receive a phone call from Sophiie now!") and theonOpenStateChangecallback.- Callback signatures:
onCallInitiated(callId, phoneNumber)·onCallStatus(status)with statusesringing,in-progress,no-answer,unauthorized-geo·onCallComplete(callId)·onCallError(error). disableAlert: truehides the widget's built-in inline error message (it is not a browser alert) so you can display your own — the error is still passed toonCallError. On the iframe embed, adddisableAlert=trueto the loader URL.
Common Questions
Why does Wix need the Iframe version?
The standard module script doesn't work on Wix. The dashboard's Wix instructions say to switch to the Iframe tab and copy that script — it loads the widget in dialog mode inside an iframe, which Wix supports.
What does the "unauthorized-geo" status mean?
It means Sophiie couldn't place a call to that number's region — the widget shows the visitor "This number is from an unsupported region." It's not one of your own settings, so changing your restriction rules won't clear it. Your own country, dial-code and blocked-number rules are separate: when one of those blocks a number, the visitor sees an error straight away instead of a call status.
Can I show my own error messages instead of the widget's?
Yes. Set disableAlert: true to hide the widget's built-in error strip, then use the onCallError(error) callback to display your own message.
